On Sunday, Afternoon a former PSL coach was killed.
Mike Lukhubene, a former coach for Chippa United and Royal AM, tragically passed away in Cape Town while attending the Coke Cup competition.
Known for his work with many clubs in the Cape region, Lukhubene, a well-known personality in South African and Western Cape football, won the ABC Motsepe League with Steenberg and Zizwe while also spending time with Chippa United and Royal AM.
A firearms incident involving two men—one of whom is believed to be Lukhubene—on the pitch at the Coke Cup during a match that his Tottenham team from the Mannenberg Local Football Association (LFA) participated in this weekend was reported to iDiski Times on Sunday afternoon.
Although the exact circumstances of the occurrence are yet unknown, this magazine has heard voice notes that confirm the coach’s untimely death.
Sadly, this is the second shooting involving a firearm in local football this week. On Friday, after Orbit College had defeated local KZN team Umsinga United at Harry Gwala Stadium, bullets were fired at the ABC Motsepe League play-offs.
We at the iDiski Times would like to send our deepest sympathies to Lukhubene’s family, friends, and the entire football community.
