Amogelang Chidi is a South African singer, dancer and actress best known for her role as Reneilwe on the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City. She made her first appearance in late 2012.
She made her first TV appearance at the age 10 as a top 10 finalist on SABC2’s singing competition Light House. Additionally, MO was also a Top 40 finalist on the M-Net reality competition High School Musical: Spotlight South Africa, in 2008.
Amogelang Chidi’s passion for the performing arts has led to several achievements, including a role in the Daughters of Africa, a pan-African show which consists of 12 women from all over the continent. She was chosen to represent South Africa in this show which toured the Netherlands for six months.
Amo is also known for her prominent role as the young girl in the internationally celebrated musical show The African Mama’s, joining the cast in August of 2010 for a woman’s monthly show at the Durban Playhouse Theatre.
Later she continued her cooperation with the mama’s in a successful show the African Mama’s Sing Mama Africa a tribute to Miriam Makeba, which also toured the Netherlands.
She has appeared in several television adverts and was the presenter of Design and Automobile on DStv’s AfricaMagic channel.
Amogelang Chidi is currently Rhythm City actress. As mentioned above, she is well known for her role as “Being Reneilwe on the ETv soapie. In addition to being on the soapie, Amo also does children’s theatre. She is a singer and participates in the business of brand ambassadorship as the face of Flori Roberts, an international luxury cosmetics brand for “Women of Colour”.
Amogelang Chidi fell in love with the stage at a very young age. She grew up obsessed with musicals and the concept of singing, dancing and acting on stage.
Amo studied Musical Theatre at Tshwane University of Technology Arts Campus but did not complete. She once said in an interview, “I did not finish the course as I went on to take part in a pan African musical “Daughters of Africa” which toured the Netherlands. However, shortly after her return to South Africa, she went on to play the young lead in a Zulu musical “Mama Africa” which staged at the Durban Play House.
Amo’s all-time favourite actress is Angelina Jolie. Amo is a singer too. She is part of a female duo called “Shee” along with an extremely talented vocalist Tshenolo Ntsani.
